Module 3 - The Holding Page: Writing, Resonance, and the Emergence of Self

Open to those who have completed Bibliotherapy Foundations and want to deepen their understanding of writing as a therapeutic and reflective process.

This module explores what happens when inner experience moves into language — and how different forms of writing can help us contain, explore, reshape, and make meaning of our stories.

📖 How structure, prompts, and guided writing can create safety, focus, and therapeutic movement.

🎭 How metaphor and symbolic language can open access to emotional and unconscious experience.

📝 How journaling can strengthen reflective capacity, continuity, and dialogue with the self.

💌 How letters and relational writing can help explore unresolved relationships, loss, longing, and repair.

🌱 How intuitive and reflective writing can reveal emerging themes, perspectives, and previously unrecognized material.

🧘 How mindful writing can support grounding, attention, emotional regulation, and an observing stance toward experience.


Methodology

A practical and experiential approach combining theoretical learning, guided writing exercises, reading, reflection, and group discussion.

Participants will experience different forms of therapeutic writing firsthand and explore how they can be adapted for individual and group work.


Course Structure

🕒 7 weekly online sessions, 2 hours each (32 academic hours, including independent assignments).

📚 Readings and writing exercises accompany each session.

🔄 Active participation is expected, including experiential writing, reflection, and peer discussion.

📝 Final integrative assignment connecting personal experience with bibliotherapeutic concepts.

Course Sessions

3.11.26 Chapter 1: Why Write?

Explore why writing can have therapeutic power and how inner experience changes when it becomes text. We will look at writing as a tool for emotional processing, meaning making, and transformation.

10.11.26 Chapter 2: The Shape That Holds the Soul

Explore how structure, prompts, and guided writing can create freedom, safety, and focus. We will work with the movement between expanding experience and distilling it to its essential meaning.

17.11.26 Chapter 3: Between Reality and Imagination

Discover how metaphor and symbolic language can open access to emotional experience and hidden meanings. We will use imagery as a way to create distance, deepen reflection, and expand perspective.

24.11.26 Chapter 4: The Self in Dialogue With Itself

Explore journaling as a space for reflection, continuity, and dialogue with the self. We will experience different forms of journal writing and their role in developing reflective capacity.

1.12.26 Chapter 5: Relational Writing

Explore therapeutic letters as a way of revisiting relationships, unfinished conversations, loss, longing, and repair. Writing can create a new space for what could not be said or completed in real time.

8.12.26 Chapter 6: Listening to the Unwritten

Explore intuitive writing, free association, and writing as a way of discovering what we do not yet know. We will also practice stepping back from the text and reading our own writing from a reflective perspective.

15.12.26 Chapter 7: The Quiet Presence of Words

Explore the meeting point between writing and mindfulness through attention, grounding, and presence. We will work with sensory writing, mindful observation, and haiku as ways of creating space around experience.
