Yes, the training is suitable for both beginners and professionals. While many of our participants are therapists, counsellors, coaches, educators, or expressive arts practitioners, the program is also designed for anyone with a strong interest in using literature, writing, and storytelling for self-development and healing.
You don’t need a background in psychology or therapy to benefit from the course. The training begins with foundational concepts and gradually builds to more advanced skills, allowing you to learn at your own pace. Whether you’re new to the field or looking to deepen your existing practice, the course offers a supportive environment and practical tools that you can begin applying immediately.
Our training is the only international program in psychodynamic bibliotherapy, blending creative tools like poetry and stories with deep psychological theory. You’ll gain practical, evidence-based techniques you can use from day one—all in a flexible, online format designed for personal and professional growth.
The Psychodynamic Bibliotherapy Diploma is structured into four comprehensive modules spread over 29 weeks, which you can complete within one year or at your own pace. Each module lasts 7–8 weeks and includes live, weekly online sessions (2–2.5 hours), plus 1–2 hours of guided homework such as reading, writing exercises, and group discussions on our learning platform.
The modules are:
1. Foundations of Bibliotherapy
2. Bibliotherapy Techniques
3. The Poetic Self
4. In the Company of Stories
You’ll engage in experiential learning, practical case studies, and group supervision led by expert facilitators. Upon completing all four modules, you'll earn a Psychodynamic Bibliotherapy Diploma, with attendance certificates provided after each module. The training is entirely online and conducted in English, making it accessible from anywhere in the world.
The program provides a rich variety of materials and resources to support both your learning and personal growth. These include:
Curated readings of poetry, short stories, excerpts, and theoretical texts from psychodynamic literature
Multimedia stimuli such as music, film clips, song lyrics, and images to evoke reflection and emotional engagement
Guided writing prompts and exercises based on therapeutic writing techniques
Weekly assignments and reflections shared through our online learning platform for tutor and peer feedback
Case studies and practical examples to help apply bibliotherapy tools in real-world settings
Access to group supervision, discussion forums, and a supportive learning community
These resources are designed to be immediately usable in both professional and personal contexts, and are regularly updated to reflect evolving insights and applications in the field.
Yes, absolutely. One of the key strengths of our training is its practical focus—you'll gain tools and techniques you can start using with clients from day one. By the end of the full program, you’ll have the knowledge, experience, and confidence to integrate psychodynamic bibliotherapy into your work with individuals or groups.
Many of our participants go on to apply bibliotherapy in a wide range of settings, including therapy, coaching, education, social work, community programs, and expressive arts practices. The final module includes designing and delivering your own bibliotherapy workshop, giving you hands-on experience and a ready-to-use framework you can adapt in your own practice.
Please note: While the course offers a diploma and strong practical training, it does not qualify you as a licensed therapist if you are not already one. However, it significantly enriches existing qualifications and is suitable for both qualified professionals and those working in non-clinical or developmental roles.
